Excited to be leading this forthcoming CPD workshop with DanceEast, focussed this time on how we support CAT students to draw on mental skills to cope with the intensity of training and performance.  The health education work at the CAT is informed by theoretical perspectives and the evidence-based practice that we have been developing over the last 6 years.

The psychological and emotional demands of a dancer can be as challenging as the physical aspects. We are planning for this session to focus on the use of imagery in preparing for performance, positive self talk and the importance of relaxation in ensuring a healthy and balanced engagement with dance training.  Building upon my research with The Royal Ballet School and Elmhurst School for Dance, we will explore the role of psychological skills training in developing rounded, autonomous and free thinking dancers. There’ll also be a chance to peek into DanceEast CAT classes to observe methods of practice.  Places are booking fast, please come along!
